Q&A with Diploma Course Graduate Yukari

Today we had a chance to interview Yukari who is not only our Diploma Course Graduate (EFT1209 / Year 2011) but also one of APA’s competent tutors teaching the Introductory Class to Japanese students. We talked about why she decided to study aromatherapy, how she applies her knowledge as a certified aromatherapist and her tips to master our Diploma Course in Holistic Aromatherapy:

1) Yukari, what were your reasons for studying aromatherapy?

In 2009, I was suffering from chronic hives and medicated for 2 months. But one day, when I was about to take medicine, I felt like vomiting so I changed to aromatherapy instead of western medication. After one week I could physically feel the effectiveness of aromatherapy. At the same time, my best friend who lives in Japan has lost her first baby in her last semester of her pregnancy. After that she suffered from depression so I felt a strong desire to support her and believed that aromatherapy can be good for her. This is the reason why I started to study aromatherapy.

2) Can you tell our readers a bit about the scope of the diploma course and what you enjoyed most?

I enjoyed Essential Oil Pharmacy the most. It was fun to know the properties of essential oils and I was very interested in essential oils history.

3) Were there any subjects you found difficult or challenging?

English is my second language so all subjects were challenging for me, especially Anatomy & Physiology because of so many medical terminologies.

4) How do you apply your knowledge now as a certified aromatherapist?

For the time being, I apply my knowledge only for my friends and family but I would like to teach aromatherapy to Japanese students and hold workshop for kids & moms in near future.

5) Any tips for our readers who are interested in taking this diploma course?

You can learn aromatherapy deeply. Honestly speaking I felt it wasn’t easy and it is stressful but it is rewarding. I can say now I’m glad to have completed the diploma course at APA.

Thank you, Yukari!
